Of drivers involved in accidents, only 127 thousandths of one percent are drinking drivers in fatal accidents.(According to numbers from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration)
And in those fatal "alcohol-related" accidents, most deaths are the drinkers, most have BAC's above .15 (the former legal limit), most are single-vehicle accidents and most happen in rural areas though 80 percent of the
But the madd mothers don't tell you that.
Nor do they say that an "alcohol-related" accident only means that a participant had a BAC above zero. Fault is not assigned -- many if not most of the alcohol-related accidents are caused by sober drivers. A drinking pedestrian struck by a sober driver is an "alcohol-related crash," but MADD deceitfully twists all alcohol-related accidents into "drunk driver caused deaths" regardless of fault and BAC level. Nor are other factors considered, such as road conditions or mechanical failure.
So even the "127 thousandths of 1 percent" exaggerates the problem. And there are billions upon billions of drinking and driving trips annually. Because of that exaggerating 0.127 percent, the Bill of Rights is being ripped to shreds. That makes no sense. It's insane . . . It's MADDness.
In the land of the free, we have sobriety checkpoints, cops arrest people in bars and private homes under the guise of preventing them from driving drunk, there's no right to a jury trial if arrested on federal land and it's getting worse:
The federal government, MADD and other powerful organizations are pushing for alcohol ignition interlocks to be standard equipment on all cars. There's also a simultaneous push to lower the limit to .05 BAC. No one is drunk at .08 and certainly not at .05, which can bereached by many people after one beer. When our "representatives" in Congress resorted
to the criminal act of extortion to force states into lowering the limit to .08 (ignoring the Constitution) President Clinton said he'd support Congress if it wanted a limit even lower than .08 BAC. Even though
