In the late 90's a movement was afoot to change the direction of alcohol treatment from the A.A. "disease" model to a more empowering "moderation" model. The movement was known as M.M. (the Moderation Management Network) and was the brain child of Audrey Kishline. She wrote a book called Moderate Drinking, Crown Trade Pub., 1994. The group has a web site at www.moderation.org. If any DUI practitioner has a client who shudders at the idea of AA, but wants to have some positive and meaningful mitigation in their case, perhaps MM is the answer.
I would particularly like to know if anyone has ever used MM and what kind of experience you had. Please contact me at 937-776-2671 (24 hr. number) and/or 1-888-ROWLAND (1-888-769-5263).
